Wood sculpting or call it what you will, isn't for everyone in the business or even as a past time...
Having started different projects and and having only finished a few i can say that it is a learned skill that takes time. Here are some of the aspects that you will have to consider:
1-> Tools (and not only that but the sharpening stones but ways to fix your carving project to a solid surface)
2->Workshop (Outside or inside you absolutely HAVE to have a place that is easily
cleaned and let me tell you grass is NOT)
3->Multiple projects (You will fail fail and then want to redo your first carvings so get the right sizes of wood and quantity and if you don't.. well improvise ;)hehe..let's just say that my backyard trees are missing some of branches this summer...
4->Your imagination(it's a lot easier drawing what you want to carve than actually applying your ideas in 3D so always make a front and side view.
5->Use environment friendly finishes ppl. come on it's up to us now.
